Local opens up favourite for Gallagher Group Marton Cup
15 Jan 2010

Awapuni trained Manonamission (pictured below) has been opened up a $5 favourite for tomorrows Gallgher Group Marton Cup. Prepared by Lisa Latta this eight year old by Kilamanjaro has been in solid form of recent times.

Manonamission was the winner of the Manawatu Cup Prelude back on the first day of the Manawatu Racing Club Christmas Carnival. He then went on to run a gallant second in the LJ Hooker Manawatu Cup beaten just a long head. At his last start he took on a very strong City Of Auckland Cup field and he produced a big run for third after being near last on the turn. From his handy barrier of five Opie Bosson should be able to get Manaonamission a touch close tomorrow.

Second favourite is Northern visitor Heat Haze ($6.50). She stormed home in last race for second at Taupo but that was in a Rating 90 race. Her best effort in open company was when she was second to Biggles at Waikato. She has also drawn well at barrier six.

Third favourite is another local, the up and coming Cassini ($8.50). She was an impressive winner of her last start at Tauherenikau when winning by seven and a quarter lengths. That race was only at a Rating 90 level but as a 3YO she was good enough to place in the Group Two Royal Stakes and was close up in the Sir Tristram Claasic and New Zealand Oaks.

The full field and odds is: $5 Manonamission, $6.50 Heat Haze, $8.50 Cassini, $9 Ranginui, $10 Titsgittin, Court Ruler, $12 Stand Tall, Regal Governor, $16 Jowka, $18 Biggles, $21 Butch James, Under And Over, $26 Kaapeon Way, Our Showboat, $31 Hurrah, $51 Almuta Wawho, $61 Black Fox
